BHS Concert Choir, Silver Lake and Handel and Hayden Society to Perform
For the past 25 years, the Brockton High School Concert Choir has had an annual tradition of performing a major choral/orchestral work with the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra of Boston.
This year, the Choir will combine with the Silver Lake Regional High School Choir, the Handel & Hayden Vocal Outreach Quartet, and the 17-piece Handel & Hayden Orchestra to present a concert in the Brockton High School Auditorium on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 10:30am. This is not open to the public.
Performances include Henry Purcell's "Come Ye Sons of Art" and two choruses from Purcell's opera, "Dido and Aeneas."
More than 100 high school students will be singing in this concert with one of the most respected and renowned early music ensembles in the country – the Handel and Haydn Society is the third-oldest musical organization in the United States.
It truly is an amazing sight to see the collaborative talents of the Handel and Haydn Society and our students culminate in this wonderfully musical experience. This year, the concert will be conducted by Dr. Andrew Clark, Director of Choral Activities and Senior Lecturer on Music at Harvard University.
The snow date for this concert is Wednesday, February 15, at 10:30 a.m.
We have invited our elementary and middle school music teachers to bring a limited number of their students to this concert, and have extended the invitation to some of the Foreign Language, History, English and Art classes at Brockton High.
