The Brockton High School Concert Choir earned a gold medal for performances on April 1 at the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association Choral Festival at Norwood High School.
More than 50 choral ensembles participated in the festival at Norwood, and BHS was one of only 10 ensembles to receive a Gold Medal, the third time in four years. The Concert Choir will be singing in the MICCA Gold Medal Showcase at Symphony Hall in Boston on Saturday, April 15, during the 9 a.m. concert hour. This concert is free and open to the public.
On April 1, the choir sang three selections: "Rytmus" by Ivan Hrusovsky, "The Most Living Moment" by David Childs, and "Jeremiah's Fire!" by Rollo Dilworth.
They were adjudicated by three judges, who each recorded a verbal commentary, scored them on a rubric, and gave them a medal rating: Gold, Silver, Bronze, Medal of Merit, or Participation Award.
Following the choir's performance, one of the adjudicators worked with the group on their repertoire during a 20 minute clinic.
Congratulations to all. Well done.
