Plouffe Academy Nurse Francisca Andrade
Honored for Saving Student's Life
Congratulations to Plouffe Academy Nurse Francisca Andrade, who was honored at the Nov. 15, 2016, School Committee meeting for grace under pressure on Oct. 27, 2016, when she performed the Heimlich Maneuver on a Plouffe Academy student who was choking on a piece of hard candy. Andrade had to perform the technique 10 to 12 times before the obstruction was dislodged.
Principal Michelle Nessralla and Brockton Public Schools Nursing Supervisor Linda Cahill commended Andrade for acting heroically with her typical skill, calm, caring and compassion to save the student's life.
Andrade received a commendation from Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Smith and Mayor Bill Carpenter and the thanks of the entire School Committee and school community.
