The Brockton High School Concert Choir has advanced as a National Finalist in The American Prize for Choral Performance: Youth and School Division 2018-2019!
The American Prize in Choral Performance recognizes and rewards the best performances by choruses in America, based on submitted recording, without bias regarding size of the community nor popularity of the artist. There is no live competition. To apply, choral director Matt Cunningham had to submit a 30-minute audio recording of the Concert Choir singing music representative of a wide range of styles from the past five academic school years.
All submissions are judged through a “blind” audition process on vocal tone, intonation, difficulty of repertoire and artistic execution. In February, BHS was selected as a semi-finalist, and now the choir is among only eight finalists nationwide. Winners will be announced in the coming months. Winners receive cash prizes, professional adjudication and national recognition.
