120th Annual Huntington School Memorial Day Parade
On Friday May 26th, hundreds of Brockton Public Schools students and staff showed their patriotic pride as they marched in the 120th Annual Huntington School Memorial Day Parade.
One of Brockton's most beloved traditions, the parade was begun in 1897 when then-Principal John Rackliffe launched the annual event as a means of honoring fallen soldiers.
This year, the school's students and staff stepped out, dressed in their school uniforms and waving the stars and stripes throughout the streets of Campello, accompanied by the patriotic tunes of a number of school bands. A row of classic cars – thanks to the auto club Wheels of Time – joined the procession, along with a contingent of Huntington School alumni, Brockton High School alumni, Bridgewater State University President Fred Clark, staff members, and students from the Goddard School who will be moving to the Huntington School in September along with their teachers and Principal John Lander. Brockton City Officials, Rep. Michael Brady, members of the Campello Business Association, members of the Brockton Fire Department and the Brockton Police Department also joined the wonderful, time-honored traditional parade!
